How to Connect Your External Bank Account
Last updated March 23, 2026
Connecting an external bank account to Slash through Plaid lets you transfer funds in and out of your Slash account without manually entering routing and account numbers each time. Once linked, you can initiate bank transfers directly from your Slash dashboard.
This guide covers how to connect your bank, how to make transfers, how to manage and disconnect linked accounts, and how to troubleshoot common connection issues.
How to Connect Your Bank Account
Step 1: Open Move Money
From your Slash dashboard, click Move Money in the top right corner.
Step 2: Select Bank Transfer
Choose Bank Transfer. If you have not yet connected a bank, you will be prompted to do so.
Step 3: Search for Your Bank in Plaid
A Plaid window opens. Search for your bank by name, select it, and log in with your online banking credentials. Plaid securely verifies your identity and links your account to Slash.
Step 4: Confirm the Connection
Once authenticated, your bank account appears as a linked account in your Slash dashboard. You are ready to make transfers.
Making Transfers with Your Connected Bank
Go to Move Money, select Bank Transfer, enter the amount, choose the direction (into Slash or out of Slash), select the accounts involved, and click Send. Transfers typically take three to five business days to settle and are free of ACH and wire fees.
Managing Your Linked Banks
View and manage connected banks under Settings, then Linked Accounts. You can:
- View account details for each connected bank
- Add additional banks to connect more than one external account
- Disconnect a bank by clicking the bank and selecting Disconnect
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
Bank not found in Plaid. Not all banks are supported by Plaid. If your bank is not available, use ACH push or wire transfer as alternatives. You can still fund your Slash account using the routing and account numbers under Move Money>Incoming ACH.
Connection expired or broken. For security, some bank connections expire periodically and need re-authentication. If your connection stops working, try disconnecting and reconnecting through Plaid.
Login failed in Plaid. Make sure you are using the correct online banking credentials (not your mobile app PIN). If your bank uses two-factor authentication, you will need to complete that step during the Plaid flow.
Transfer not arriving. Bank transfers take three to five business days. If a transfer has not arrived after five business days, contact our support team to trace it.
